The United States Customs and Border Protection division of the Department of Homeland Security is responsible for protecting the Mexican and Canadian borders as well as sea ports from foreign dangers. On rare occasions they may be seen patrolling areas of the border for illegal alien activity, but are usually busy elsewhere doing just that.

With a border that makes swiss cheese look like a brick wall Americans, especially those living in unprotected areas need to be alert. The list of CBP Field Offices (linked to above) has a national phone number to help you do just that at 1-800-BE-ALERT.
