I personally purchased a competing beer machine my freshman year of college and nearly made a good batch. I say nearly because the competing beer machine I bought needed co2 injected at the right time and I didn't put enough in fast enough, so I ended up descent tasting flat beer. Then I tried to make up for it by adding a second injection of co2, but the gasket blew on the fermenter tank causing half of the beer to shoot out all over my dorm room. Then I ran down the floor kitchen to dump out the rest and my RA caught me red handed, but he was cool and didn't write me up.
