Maine Contract Farming was fined by OSHA in 2002 for multiple safety violations including unispected fire extinguishers, defective eye washing equipment,unsanitary showers, fall hazards, electrical hazards, unsafe roofing, and asbestos. The company had previously been violated for exposing workers to dangerous collapsing buildings in mutiple incidents including a barn collapse in 1999.

Maine Contract Farming Fined for Endangering Workers

Maine Contract Farming was busted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for endangering workers by making them work in a building that had partially collapsed under the weight of snow and ice. They were sent into the building to recover eggs and brace the rest of it before it could collapse down on them. Fortunately for the workers the rest of the building did not come down on top of them.

Maine Contract Farming Fined for Animal Cruelty

In 2010 Maine Contract Farming agreed to pay $34,674.11 in fines for animal cruelty because of how they treated their chickens. The treatement included the use of what some people call "battery cages" and the use of those has since been banned by several states. Maine Contract Farming is a DeCoster Egg Farm owned by Jack DeCoster.
