Cedar Rapids, Iowa - Gazette reporter Vanessa Miller exhibited visible signs of long term methamphetamine use this past week by publishing undeniable proof of delusional thinking in her own words for all the world to see. This tragic incident captures the personal story of a woman likely caught at the crossroads between meth abuse and mental illness on a collision course with disaster. In 2011 alone methamphetamine lab busts in the United States increased nationwide and Iowa ranked 7th in the nation for total meth lab busts(1) despite being ranked 30th in total population(2) showing a highly disproportional ratio of meth abuse to normal behavior in Iowa relative to other states. Methamphetamine is a psychostimulant(3) known to have numerous psychological side effects even after short term use including delusions, excessive feelings of power, and invincibility(4) as well as long terms side effects including psychosis in 20 percent of addicts(5). Possession of methamphetamine is a felony in the state of Iowa (6). Symptoms of Methamphetamine psychosis resemble that of Schizophrenia including delusional beliefs. Psychosis can cause numerous combinations of primary and secondary delusions. Primary delusions typically arise suddenly in ways that normal mental processes cannot comprehend while secondary delusions are typically influenced by any combination of personal background, beliefs, or the current situation of the sufferer(6). In both cases delusions manifest themselves as beliefs held in strong conviction despite strong evidence to the contrary and are always the result of a mental illness or illness process(7). On February 29, 2012 Vanessa Miller published an article called "Internet transforming libel landscape" (see link above this article) for which she interviewed the owner of a controversial website before putting the statement "The site - which TheGazette.com chose not to name to avoid encouraging activity there" where the URL should have been in the article. That decision combined with the inclusion of language about what that one of a kind website does and the name of its owner indicates that Miller was operating under the delusion that she could engage in good journalism while failing to properly cite her sources and that her unethical actions would prevent her article from increasing traffic to that website, but was too far gone in her state of self-righteousness to realize the ultimate uselessness of her actions or consider the consequences of such senselessness. Vanessa Miller may have fooled some readers into thinking that her failure to properly cite a source would prevent people from finding it, but by including the full name of the site’s owner and terms unique to his service she put the site just one Google search away for any reader truly interested in using it. Exactly how Vanessa Miller became delusional to the point of thinking that the publication of that article would "avoid encouraging activity" on that site is unknown, but methamphetamine is more likely to be the cause than it could be most elsewhere with the only other explanation being an unknown mental agitator. Jakadrien Turner was arrested, gave police a fake name belonging to an illegal alien, and ICE deported her to Columbia. Even though ICE took her fingerprints they still failed to identify her somehow, so she ended up getting shipped to Columbia, given a work card by the government, and found a job cleaning houses despite not speaking the language. Eventually her grandma tracked her down on Facebook and tried to help her come home, but the Colombian government is now holding her in a detention center. Although the exact reason for her detention in Colombia is unknown it most likely has to do with her status as an undocumented immigrant.

PrisonTalk.com Supports Censorship, Rape, and Murder

One would hope that a site about prison would be a good source of information about inmates, but today I found out that Prison Talk (PrisonTalk.com) will censor anyone who asks a question in search of criminal records. All I did was ask where to find inmate lists not coded in JavaScript and they considered it a threat to their "loved ones". Their loved ones being psychotic rapists and murderers whose crimes the public could know more about if they were made available on pages coded better. If you want to post your mind about prison issues I recommend doing it here. At least if I've read the policy right my opinion can never be deleted no matter what I think, so I can support the law or favor rape and murder like Prison Talk does. Good thing I have more sense than PrisonTalk.com and oppose criminal predators.

You won't be safe anywhere because when you move out of places being flooded and destroyed by water from melting glaciers you will just find more trouble elsewhere because you'll have to live in habitats endangered by continental hazards. Like next to rivers where animals should have good habitats without you blocking the spring flood waters from running their natural course. This was confirmed by scientists in England. Not cool man.

Students Wearing Confederate Flags Accused of Racism

The Confederate Flags is one of those symbols created for one thing and thought of for another. It was created to give the Confederate States of America a flag that did not look like the Union flag. After the war it was adopted as a symbol of pride by southerners, but also as a symbol of hate by racist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), American Nazi Party, segregationists, and countless others. As a result people in northern states typically view it as a racist symbol while many white southerners see it just as a symbol of their heritage. I guess the real meaning of the Confederate Flag like any symbol created for one thing and constantly used for other stuff should boil down to how someone is using it. If its being used as part of Civil War re-enactment then it is not racist, if its being displayed by a southerner with nothing else indicative of their views then it probably shouldn't be considered racist, and if its being used as part of a white pride rally then it is obviously racist. Personally I'm not a big fan of flag, but people should not be labeled racists just for wearing it. This incident reminds me of an incident that happened back when I was in my early teens. I was out at some dunes with a friend, his step dad, and his buddies. His step dad was a red headed guy named Earl from Virgina who loved flying a Confederate Flag on his sandrail. I asked if he would take it down while I was riding in it because I thought it was racist and I didn't want people thinking that I was racist. He took it down once, but after that he told me that unless I wanted to wait my turn or find someone else to ride with that I would have to learn about tolerance and tolerate his flag. He later explained that that it was not a symbol of racism, but a symbol of his heritage. He said that to him flying it was about being proud about who he was and where he was from. Personally I think people should ask themselves if they are racist before judging people based on that flag alone because if displaying by itself makes someone a racist in your eyes then maybe you are the real racist. Its in the same ballpark as the German Iron Cross that was heavily used by Hitler's army and still used by neo-Nazi groups. Lots people see it and associate its use with Nazis, but don't realize that it was invented nearly 100 years before WWII, is still awarded to German soldiers for bravery, and is still used as a logo by the German armed forces today.
