The problem has been resolved it appears as I can now access both of those servers and the website at its proper address. I complained by using articles detailing the complaint and contacting the company with requests to resolve the issue within 24 hours and it was resolved in that time frame.

Remote-Com denies being behind the blocks but I don't care because I am not blocked anymore. Assuming the block was not because of them they responded well by helping me possibly rule out the source of the problem and if they were behind the blocks they fixed the problem promptly.

I just hope that they still want to do business with me because their monitoring software has been really easy to work with.
Learn more: I Like Remote-Com, But Did They Block a Legit Website?

If you use a pre-Artisteer 3 version of Artisteer then don't upgrade to Artisteer 3 unless you don't need to change the functions in your themes to make up of the failure of Artisteer developers to provide basic search engine optimization (SEO) features. Features like meta descriptions and canonical link tags that should be a no brainer to any competent developer, but seem lost to the Artisteer people require improvements to be made by the customer. Those changes can be made in Artisteer themes themselves by adding new functions to and tweaking out of the box functions in functions.php or by changing header.php using just default Wordpress functions. In my case I changed Artisteer functions that all had the prefix "art_" in the function names, but are all "theme_" now and in some cases entire function names have been changed or removed completely.

In addition I cannot use custom code I built to strip some types of HTML tags from posts because art_get_post_content() is no longer a function. Now I must re-do all my work because some idiot decided to change all the function names.

To make matters worse I could not post a question about this in the Artisteer help forum because I got a XML parsing error whenever submitting my thread. As a result I had to start writing this before losing all my progress due to a power surge and having to write this now all over again. As a result what should have been a simple copy and paste has cost me a half hour of my life due to the forum mishap and power surge alone. Thanks a lot Artisteer.
Learn more: Artisteer 3 Function Name Change Broke My SEO Code

Today I finally realized that I wouldn't have time to play Fallout 3 again if I wanted to, so I finally deleted 6.5 gigs worth of add-ons and saves. Most of it was saves because saves as large as 5mb or 6mb a piece were using up my memory and around the early summer of 09 I realized that I had to either delete the entire folder for that game or go through as many as 450 to 500 plus saves before deleting them one by one to free up space. I decided to be more careful with future games to prevent them from taking up that much space, but since I have one of the original XBOX 360s the hard drive is only like 20gb. Inevitably despite not playing video games very much these days I finally had to get rid of that game. Its good and maybe I'll play it again for nostalgic reasons in like 5 or 10 years since its too old to sell or trade in at any considerable value.

I had every single downloadable add-on for that game and I played it a lot back in 2009 when I would have either been bored or doing that, but also because I would You Tube gameplay videos featuring URLs to websites of mine with stuff like a good cheat I stumbled on, massacres, and weapon demos for the add-ons some of which got quite popular. Whenever playing through a game with the idea in mind of You Tubing parts of it saving in the right places often is key to being able to come back later and film an event or do a quick re-take.

Maybe this is why Bethesda Softworks restricted all users to 100 saves max in Fallout New Vegas. I strongly suspect this of being the case, so hopefully Bethesda learned their lesson.
Learn more: Fallout 3 Saves are Big and Can Fill Up a XBOX 360 HD

The Shortcoming Convenience of Aurora 3D Logo Maker

UPDATE: I've changed this review from a rant to a rave because Aurora 3D Software fixed their Aurora 3D Logo Maker so that you can wrap text all the way around a circle and you can save projects without losing images deleted from your desktop. Now if you download the latest version, start a project, and select "Save As Package" you won't have problems if you delete images from where they were loaded from. I'll be changing my rating from 2 start to 4 also because I really like using this program for most logo related stuff, but I would still like to see them use "Save As Package" as the default method for saving projects and even though I understand that this software is primarily designed for creating logos or buttons instead of charts I would like to see at least some gridline .svg files added for people that want to make small charts.

Original Rant:

Shortcoming and convenient sums up Aurora 3D Logo Maker from Aurora 3D Software, a software application designed for people with better things to do than learn graphic design and better things to spend their money on than graphic designers. It offers a quick and convenient way to create a 3D logo for your business or website simply by dragging shapes onto the screen, typing text, and importing images. The end result is an easy 3D logo in no time and a very difficult 3D logo after many hours if you want certain basic features that are common among logos, but not supported by Aurora 3D logo maker.

One of the unsupported features is curved text wrapped around a circle. You see this type of text in logos all the time such as the Presidential seal where the words "Seal of the President of the United States" wrapped around an eagle logo. Unfortunately it is impossible to create a 3D version in Aurora 3D Logo Maker because nothing supports simple circular text. The closest option Aurora has is to create a circle or sphere shape before applying a sector or arch distortion to the text, but even at full distortion levels the text does not curve enough to wrap around a circle.

Another unsupported feature is charts or grids for graphs. I'm currently trying to make a 3D chart for comparing product features, but with no grid support I am having to create each square manually and line them up next to each other tediously. To make matters worth the 3D aspects of the program such as lighting and depth make the edges extremely difficult to line up evenly every time.

Overall Opinion

Aurora 3D Chart and Logo Maker is a great way to cut corners when you need a quick 3D logo as long as you don't run into its limitation road blocks. If you know how to make your own 3D graphics don't bother buying this and if you do buy it be prepared to choose between disappointment or compromise. As of now I'm going to have to stop trying to use this product because of time constraints, but hopefully they will return the call I made to their Google Voice phone (662) 786-0090 so that I can find out if there are any features I couldn't find to solve my problems.

UPDATE: After using this product to create several 3D logos quickly and easily I'm not as disappointed with my purchase as I once was. Still they have problems that should be fixed. Unless they release a patch consumers should be aware of the following problems:

1. Grid line support should be added preferably as an option for text objects.
2. The ability to wrap text around a circle perfectly at a 360 degree angle should be added.
3. Images in projects should be stored in the project when imported so that temporary file deletions won't make projects unusable in the future.
Learn more: The Shortcoming Convenience of Aurora 3D Logo Maker

The AJAX Rating Control from Microsoft's AJAX Control ToolKit for the ASP.Net framework currently in use on this website has been a bit of a disappointment so far. It performed quite well at first because it made adding a graphic user interface for users to rate posts and binding its CurrentRating property to a SQL Insert Statement quite easy, but after that problems arose that proved inconvenient to fix and could have been hard for a less experienced developer to address.

The first problem occurs when trying to display average ratings for which the value is about halfway between two whole numbers (ex: 3.5) because it can only display whole numbers (ex: 3 or 4). This problem could easily be fixed down the road by using a jQuery plugin with images for half stars.

The second problem is that the CurrentRating property only supports integer values. As a result any non whole number such as a decimal (ex: 3.5) or a null value will result in a runtime error. The decimal bug rules out using it to display accurate averages visually and the null values rules out using it for anything in which a post can have no ratings unless fixed by the developer. The best way to fix this that we have found so far is to convert the text values for the average rating label control in each row to a string, convert that string to a decimal, round the decimal to the nearest whole number, convert the result to an integer, and set the CurrentRating property to the integer value using the RowDataBound event of the GridView.

Sanitized Code Used for Integer Conversion:

AjaxControlToolkit.Rating ratingcontrol = (AjaxControlToolkit.Rating)e.Row.FindControl("Rate");
            Label rateavglabel = (Label)e.Row.FindControl("RateAVG");
string rateavg = rateavglabel.Text.ToString();
Decimal exactrating = (Decimal)Decimal.Parse(rateavg);
Math.Round(exactrating);
ratingcontrol.CurrentRating = Convert.ToInt32(exactrating);

We would post more code, but for security reasons we don't allow some characters that are necessary to render C# scripts server side in our input forms on this site. At present it is necessary to prevent cross site scripting (XSS) attacks. The use of e.Row.FindControl is being used because it is inside of an "if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)" if statement inside of the GridView RowDataBound event (ex: protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)). There is a little bit more to our code than that, but its mostly for customizing labels. All of this was done with the CurrentRating set to 0 by default.
Learn more: ASP.Net AJAX Rating Control is a Disappointment
