Honey Bee in My Driscoll's Raspberries

When I was making my usual Honey Nut Cheerios with raspberries this morning I found a honey bee in my Driscoll's raspberries. Good thing I am not allergic to bees because even though the bee was dead I could have had a problem. I still ate the berries though. They are good but not great and a lot of the time they are not fully ripe when purchased but other than that they are alright. Nothing really special or notable unless they come with bees in them.

DeCoster Egg Farm Busted with Dozens of Illegal Workers

The Iowa egg farm owned by Jack DeCoster and managed by his son Peter DeCoster was busted with dozens of illegal aliens working there. As a result Jack DeCoster had to pay over $2 million in fines for knowigly hiring workers who had no legal right to work in the United States. The payment was part of a 2003 plea deal with the federal government that allowed his to stay out of jail and keep his horrible buisness. The plea also required him to allow immigration officials to inspect propterty from time to time.

OSHA Fined Maine Contract Farming for Safety Violations

Maine Contract Farming was fined by OSHA in 2002 for multiple safety violations including unispected fire extinguishers, defective eye washing equipment,unsanitary showers, fall hazards, electrical hazards, unsafe roofing, and asbestos. The company had previously been violated for exposing workers to dangerous collapsing buildings in mutiple incidents including a barn collapse in 1999.

Maine Contract Farming Fined for Endangering Workers

Maine Contract Farming was busted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for endangering workers by making them work in a building that had partially collapsed under the weight of snow and ice. They were sent into the building to recover eggs and brace the rest of it before it could collapse down on them. Fortunately for the workers the rest of the building did not come down on top of them.

Maine Contract Farming Fined for Animal Cruelty

In 2010 Maine Contract Farming agreed to pay $34,674.11 in fines for animal cruelty because of how they treated their chickens. The treatement included the use of what some people call "battery cages" and the use of those has since been banned by several states. Maine Contract Farming is a DeCoster Egg Farm owned by Jack DeCoster.

Egg Farm Poisoned Over 1,000 People with Salmonella

DeCoster Egg Farms of Iowa infected over 1,000 people with Salmonella last year which led to a massive egg recall. The farms owned by Jack DeCoster include the Wright County Egg, Quality Egg, and Hillandale Farms all of which have horrible safety records. DeCoster got a lot of bad press over this last year because of the size of the recall and his horrible record of cutting corners. Jack's son Peter DeCoster runs DeCoster Egg Farms of Iowa.

DeCoster Egg Farms Hired Illegal Aliens & Raped Them

DeCoster Egg Farms of Iowa owned by Austin "Jack" DeCoster hired 5 illegal aliens and raped them at an egg farm in Iowa back in 2002. DeCoster Egg Farms was sued for the rape and agreed to pay the victims over $1.5 million for forcing them to have sex out of fear that they would be fired or killed if they refused their advances.
