Phishing Email Spam Scam Disguised as Gaddafi's Money

A new phishing email spam scam arrived in my inbox today from someone claiming to have Muammar Gaddafi's blood money, but no way to legally transfer it from Gaddafi's account to his. Now he needs my help moving the money and to show his gratitude he is willing to share it with me. I don't even need to respond to his email to know that the next thing he will want is my bank account number and information so that he can access it to make a deposit. After I give him information I won't see a single penny of Gaddafi's money and he will take my money. He says he is in Florida, but his IP address 120.140.114.142 is in Malaysia. Maybe that is why his English isn't so good. WATCH OUT FOR EMAILS LIKE THIS ONE: Dear Friend, With regard, I am James Francis from Florida USA was “born in 1936, with regard an undercover business partner with Libyan Leader Omar Muammar al Gaddafi, before his dead on 2011, we have an Private account in Asia $20.000,000 usd (Twenty Million US Dollars) for investment without any beneficiary or identification of the principle, because of my health condition and security in my country I can’t transfer this fund to my personal account rather I want you to assist me to receive this fund with you for partnership" because the bank have informed me to provide beneficiary immediately. Piradius.Net & Shinjiru Hosted Al-Qaeda Terrorist Sites

After moving on from a horrible web hosting experience with Shinjiru we discovered that Piradius.Net has been hosting terrorist websites that have been used by Al-Qaeda to post hit lists of American citizens that they want killed. This discovery came while conducting a media research study on celebrity cyberbullying to populate one of the prototypes with interesting content. Our chief developer was writing one particular Cyberbullying Report on a series of domain names known as Ansar al-Mujahideen located at As-Ansar.info, As-Ansar.com, and As-Ansar.org all of which were full of Arabic hate speech and pictures of Osama Bin Laden. He wanted to give his report some information beyond it being just another obvious cyberbullying incident, so he started doing some WHO IS searches (1) about these domains and remembered seeing the Piradius name listed as a property of Shinjiru Technology in a Motion Picture Association (MPA) press release (2). To our horror we discovered that we had been doing business with the same company who had been providing services used by Al-Qaeda to make headlines on Fox News, CNN, and Forbes Magazine (3). The Forbes article linked to the Investigative Project on Terrorism (4) which contained a link to one of the then live forum threads (5). To make matters worse we realized that two of our domain names were still technically owned by Shinjiru because we were still using their private domain name registration service. Fearing for the safety of our prototypes we realized that we needed to transfer our domains away from them as soon as possible before we could safely name them in the report, but that still took a couple weeks because after finally getting our EEP codes from Shinjiru employees who asked more questions than we would have liked our first attempts to transfer our domains to their current registrar was unsuccessful due to them being listed in their database as Shinjiru property. This was due to Shinjiru being a reseller of theirs, so we had to ask them again to push the domains to our username after which we realized that by using the private registration of our registrar directly we would save 50% off what Shinjiru was charging us to be the middle man all along. Today we were happy to see when trying to visit the terrorist websites that they all appear to be down. We don’t know if that is due to poor service from Shinjiru, Shinjiru getting hacked, or Shinjiru doing the right thing by suspending those sites for containing content "that threatens or encourages bodily harm" in violation of Section 5 of their acceptable use policy (AUP) and hosting "forums for terrorists, personal websites for terrorists, audio, photo and videos of terrorist activities” in violation of Section 8 of their AUP (both the Shinjiru AUP(6) and Piradius AUP(7) are virtually identical). We hope that these sites will stay down, but given the headlines they made and the way Piradius is marketed as a premium service we doubt that it took over 2 months for someone to complain about this. On a separate note realizing the presence of such horribly illegal content on their server helped us look at the horrible service we received (8) in a different light. Shinjiru Technology is Horrible Offshore Web Hosting

We have had some bad experiences with web hosting companies, but none of them compare to Shinjiru when it comes to poor quality of service. It all started a little over a year ago when one of the No Limit List prototypes was being harassed by an attorney in the state of Virginia. The lawyer wanted a page deleted from the prototype and we would have had to betray a user in good standing to meet the timetable set forth by Network Solutions to avoid account termination unless we moved the site to different hosting company. At the time we didn’t know if the user was telling the truth or not, so we were not about to sanction someone just because a lawyer called them a liar. The lawyer also was a specialist in cyber law, so we concluded that the best way to protect future hosts from harassment would be to move the site offshore. It worked like a charm for dealing with the lawyer, but led to a whole new set of problems. Problems with Shinjiru first became obvious in September and October of 2010 when our chief developer would come home from work to discover his prototype offline for no apparent reason at least once a week. In each case he would complain to Shinjiru and they would get site back up with explanation related to "urgent maintenance" and "scheduled urgent maintenance". The last explanation was suspect because people rarely plan on having to do maintenance urgently. He didn’t realize how bad the problem was at first, but it was bad enough keep uptime at a far lower rate than the 99% we had purchased. In December of 2010 there was a huge disaster just around Christmas time that resulted in 3 days of downtime for the one website hosted exclusively on their server. This problem was so bad that we couldn’t even login to our Plesk Control Panel because it too was down. As our chief developer struggled to get his site back online he received an email notifying him of an error on his home page. That home page error was the result of a Web.Config file being corrupted by Shinjiru in such a way that it produced an IIS runtime error displaying the connection string login data for his database including its IP address, admin username, and password. This gross breach of security by Shinjiru was so shockingly awful that we decided to seek other offshore hosting solutions despite having paid for a whole year of unmetered bandwidth services in advance. By March of 2011 we had moved all our files away from Shinjiru with the exception of one database because when sites went down in the past databases always seemed to do just fine. Then Shinjiru experienced an ever bigger disaster that disabled our ability to access our database completely and again our Plesk Control Panel could not be accessed. After several days of demanding our data and a refund for the rest of the year we had purchased we finally got both thanks to complaining persistently on Shinjiru’s Facebook page when they were trying to promote a sale. We would constantly bombard their Facebook page with questions wondering how they found the time to promote a sale when their customers couldn’t even login to their admin section or access their data. In the end we got an apology and a refund for the previous months where they provided such horrible service even though didn’t ask for either. Still the money was not enough to make up for the time we lost due to horrible incompetence.
