Volunteers Improve Federal Courthouse in Portland, Oregon

Volunteers are needed in Portland, Oregon where efforts are underway to improve the exterior of the federal courthouse with public service announcements. Just head down to the corner of SW Third and Main in downtown Portland and make sure to bring spray paint. Try to have a PSA in mind before you show up because the staff have a habit of attacking volunteers while they work. Gas mask recommended. UPDATE: The feds have once again erected a fence around the building to thwart the work of community volunteers and obstruct future efforts. Fortunately, there are plenty of other federal facilities in Portland and surrounding areas equally in need of volunteers. What Microsoft's Scott Hanselman Does Not Tell You About His Work

Scott Hanselman of Microsoft won't tell you that his Contoso Crafts demo will break if forced to process a large amount of data. This means that new developers are likely to get suckered into using ASP.net Core thinking it will be easy because of how easy he makes it look in his demo. Then they will copy his methods as close as possible thinking that surely a Microsoft employee would lead them down the right path. Everything will seem fine for awhile until they have a lot of data in their posts table at which point the dataset is too big to work with Scott's get all data method. Don't believe me? Just look at how slow this site is and how often error messages are displayed instead of posts. Other developers are recommending the use of something called a ViewModel which Hanselman never discussed in Contoso Crafts. They say using the ViewModel to compute properties would be preferable to doing it the GetPosts() method of the PostsService class. I thought everything needed to be computed in a service class since that is how it was done in Contoso Crafts and other examples from either Microsoft or other so called ASP.Net experts.

Kyle Rittenhouse Released on Bond

Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17 year old that is facing murder charges for defending himself from attackers in Kenosha, Wisconsin has been released on a $2,000,000 cash bond. The media does not seem to know exactly where the money came from, but they do say that it was posted by his lawyers. The money was most likely raised by the Fight Back Foundation which is defending Rittenhouse. They have received millions of dollars in donations from conservatives since the shooting. Video from the incident (https://postalmostanything.com/2911/why-was-towlie2110-lol-kicked-off-of-youtube) shows that Rittenhouse was being chased by Joseph Rosenbaum before someone else fired a shot, Rosenbaum closed within feet, and only when forced to choose between letting Rosenbaum have his way with him or defending himself did he open fire. Rittenhouse then ran away after people at the scene made him fear for his safety. While running away people gave chase yelling "he just killed someone" and "get him" before Rittenhouse tripped and fell. While on the ground he was attacked by multiple people including someone that hit him with a skateboard. He opened fire in self defense killing one and seriously wounding a second. He then walked by police with his hands in the air and went home to Illinois. Despite the clear video evidence of self defense he is being prosecuted for political reasons. It is good to see that this boy will not have to spend more time in pre-trial detention for crimes he did not commit. I am generally anti-cop but I am also against charging people with crimes they did not commit even if they support cops that I despise. This boy satisfied his requirement to flee under the law and it does not matter that he was illegally in possession of the gun or that him being on the streets was an act he knew would be provocative for people there. There is no evidence that he provoked the protesters for the purpose of getting them to do something that would justify self defense, so there is not sufficient evidence to convict him of anything except possessing a gun illegally.

A Special Thanks to the Redditor That Helped Identify Rochester Cop

I would like to publicly thank the Redditor that goes by the handle UsernameIsMyUsernam for posting the lead that led to the identification of his ex-girlfriend. Rochester Police Officer Hannah Schneeberger was caught on camera abusing a 9 year old black girl and threatening her with pepper spray before she was pepper sprayed while crying and begging for her father. The RPD quickly announced that one officer was suspended and two were placed on paid administrative leave, but they did not release any names. I had no idea who she was until I noticed a post on Reddit by someone claiming that his ex had sprayed the girl. That post included a screenshot of a text conversation in which the other party was listed under the name "Crazy Hannah." I then worked with CopBlaster.com to identify the girl. CopBlaster.com cross referenced the Open Oversight police officer database for white female officers in Rochester named Hannah. They found one result and then found a social media profile that looked a lot like the officer in the video below. I then posted a response to his post asking if I had the right Hannah and sent him a direct message asking for more information. He responded by congratulating me for our work. The purpose of this post is to document the confirmation from the ex-boyfriend and thank him for his help. Possible COVID Carrier in Portland

While waiting for my appointment today, a red Toyota Camry with license plate 644DKD pulled up. A woman opened the front door of the clinic, but did not enter. She complained saying "you can't keep me on hold forever." Then she went back to her car. Some time later a staff member went out covered in a gown with gloves and a face shield. She swabbed her mouth and came back in. I later asked a staff member if that was a COVID test and was told that it was, but they would not tell me the results. I could tell that it was a COVID test because the front door of the clinic has a sign telling people with COVID symptoms not to enter. Had the incompetent receptionist not kept her on hold she would not have entered. I now fear to exit the place because the door might be contaminated. I have been dissatisfied with the staff member who kept the woman on hold recently.

Florida Man Kicked Off Plane for Wearing Panties as Facemask

A Florida man is being compared to Rosa Parks after getting kicked off a plane for wearing bright red women's thong panties as a mask. Adam Jenne of Cape Coral has been wearing the thong as his mask to protest mask mandates and travel rules requiring people to wear masks on airplanes. Technically, the red thong meets the requirements of a cloth facial cover in compliance with mask mandates which is why he has gotten away with it at least a dozen times until a United Airlines flight crew decided to re-invent the definition of a mask. Under the new definition of a mask, which seems to include just about any cloth face cover other than women's underwear, Jenne was not in compliance according to the flight crew. After Jenne was kicked off the plane other passengers left the plane in protest outraged at the United Airlines flight crew for kicking a man off a plane for wearing a mask. One passenger asked, "Did he just get kicked off for wearing a mask?" After confirming he said, "I’m out of here, forget it. I’m out of here." Several other passengers followed. United Airlines later issued a public statement in support of the decision saying, "The customer clearly wasn’t in compliance with the federal mask mandate and we appreciate that our team addressed the issue on the ground prior to takeoff, avoiding any potential disruptions on the air." To make sure that I am right about the ejection being unjustified I looked up the federal mask mandate. The mandate outlines the requirements of masks, "The following are attributes of masks needed to fulfill the requirements of the Order. CDC will update this guidance as needed." Followed by these bullet points: - A properly worn mask completely covers the nose and mouth. - Cloth masks should be made with two or more layers of a breathable fabric that is tightly woven (i.e., fabrics that do not let light pass through when held up to a light source). - Mask should be secured to the head with ties, ear loops, or elastic bands that go behind the head. If gaiters are worn, they should have two layers of fabric or be folded to make two layers. - Mask should fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face. - Mask should be a solid piece of material without slits, exhalation valves, or punctures. Source: https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/masks/mask-travel-guidance.html Upon further review it appears that the thong covered the nose and mouth, the fabric appears thick enough not to see through it, it was fastened to his ears/face with elastic, it appeared to fit snugly as well as comfortably, and appears to be a solid piece of material without slits. The only possible argument we could see the airline making would be that the thong is not made with two or more layers of fabric, but as far as we can tell it appears to be made of either two or more layers or a thick layer capable of preventing people from seeing his face despite being stretched. I believe that it meets the above requirements absent a showing that it wasn't as thick as it appears. In addition to the above, the CDC has a second bulleted list of things that do not qualify as masks: - Masks worn in a way that does not cover both the mouth and nose - Face shields or goggles (face shields or goggles may be worn to supplement a mask that meets above required attributes) - Scarves, ski masks, balaclavas, or bandannas - Shirt or sweater collars (e.g., turtleneck collars) pulled up over the mouth and nose. - Masks made from loosely woven fabric or that are knitted, i.e., fabrics that let light pass through - Masks made from materials that are hard to breathe through (such as vinyl, plastic or leather) - Masks containing slits, exhalation valves, or punctures - Masks that do not fit properly (large gaps, too loose or too tight) The thong clearly covers the nose and mouth, is not a face shied, goggles, scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandanna, shirt or sweater collar, made from loosely woven fabric, knitted, does not allow light to pass through, is not hard to breath through, contains no slits, exhalation valves, or punctures, and fits properly. Clearly the panties are not on this list. Conclusion Adam Jenne appears to be the Rosa Parks of the COVID era.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Bugs/Glitches

Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War the past few days on an Xbox One X has been frustrating due to bugs. Two specifically come to mind and one is game breaking. The first less severe bug that I noticed was crosshairs on weapons not working in multiplayer. When this happens you can see the crosshairs partially, but they become pixilated and at times invisible. This can be very frustrating when you aim down your gun at an opponent and have to guess at where the center is. This is not game breaking, but annoying none the less. The second bug is game breaking. A few minutes ago I was hit with a napalm strike in multiplayer and the game froze. I looked at a frozen screen of my character being blown up for about a minute until my console crashed. Fallout 76: A Colossal Problem Bug at Monongah Mine

Fallout 76 is full of bugs that make it one of the worst Fallout games of all time. Some of the bugs are purely technical while others are by design and arguably not bugs at all. This is likely the latter. It happens when you talk to Maggie at the Foundation settlement and agree to help her find out what happened to her father. That begins the Something Sentimental quest line which is really an event quest. The difference between an event quest and a normal quest line is not evident until later on and how you respond to the event prompt will determine whether or not you can complete the quest line. Shortly after beginning the Something Sentimental quest you find yourself at Monongah Mine but it is blocked by rubble. Maggie suggested that you dislodge the blockage with a nuke. Hoping a mini nuke would suffice I went there and found out that was not the case. Then I realized I would need to launch an ICBM at Monongah Mine just to get inside. Launching an ICBM in Fallout 76 is no easy feat. You have to go to one of three bunkers with missile silos, clear out the enemies, and enter the correct launch code just to fire the missile. That might sound simple, but there are so many enemies in each bunker that no matter how many stimpaks you have it is not enough and even if you produce as much ammo as your resources allow you it won't be enough. Your best bet is to hope that you have saved up at least 15 plasma cores for your Gatling Plasma and bring plenty of melee weapons, but most importantly make sure you have the current week's launch codes. I recommend getting the code from https://nukacrypt.com/ because tracking them down manually would take hours. I've never bothered to track down the codes myself because doing so requires that you find all of the ghouls carrying chunks of the code and solving some sort of puzzle to figure out which order the code goes in. Then the code itself changes every week, so there is a good chance that trying to find out this week's code manually will result in not being able to find every piece or if you do find each piece you probably won't have the code long enough to use it before it expires. Then if you are able to launch a missile the bunker security resets which means you will have to kill the same enemies all over again to launch another one. Anyway, back to the problem at Monongah Mine, I finally managed to nuke the place only to find out that my efforts were a waste of time. When you drop a nuke on the place it doesn't really open the mine. It starts an event called A Colossal Problem that takes place inside of the mine. I didn't know that I had to complete the event to complete the quest line and since I prefer to play Fallout by myself I decided to go to the mine instead of joining the event. Because the mine was in a blast zone fast travel was not available and because I have rarely participated in multiplayer events I didn't know that you could fast travel to the event using the map. When I finally reached the mine the event was no longer on the map and the mine was closed. I asked people on Reddit about this and they said that if the event fills up or is completed by other players it disappears from the map (https://www.reddit.com/r/fo76/comments/k1vmum/a_colossal_problem_event_disappears_from_map/). This leads me to believe that a group of players fast traveled to the event and either filled quota or completed it without me while I was moving on foot to the mine. So, is this a bug or me just not knowing how to play? It may not be a bug by design but it is a design flaw none the less. To think that the person who triggers the event by completing part of a quest line cannot participate due to other people is unconscionable. There is no justifiable reason why an event should ever be rendered unavailable to the person that unlocks it. If the que fills up or is completed by other players that should not result in the event disappearing for the person that unlocked it. It should result in the event being available to just that person or that person's session being moved to another map where them joining unlocks the event for everyone there. I will keep an eye out for the event in the future when I play the game again. I will play again when a new quest line becomes available because the multiplayer bother sucks as a multiplayer game and ruins the single player experience. Fallout was never supposed to be multiplayer. Bethesda Softworks were fools for trying to make a hybrid single/multiplayer game in the first place. I'm not saying they should never have added some multiplayer features, but they certainly never should have integrated them with the main quest line. When people choose a world to enter they can choose between an open public world, private world, and a deathmatch. The options should really be single or multiplayer. In the single player one would only be able to play single player story line related things only. In the multiplayer you would only have multiplayer features that could include completing some single player quests in co-op mode. They should never again make a Fallout game without an exclusive single player experience.
